Starter solenoid

Is it possible to put the battery and starter cables on the wrong posts of the solenoid? I have seen pics online of the cables on either post. I just want to make sure that I have mine wired properly. I have the battery, fuselage link, and alternator on the left. Starter is on the right post. I have seen pics where they are flipped on either post. Thanks.

Actually, in that application, your picture is of the starter relay, not the solenoid. The solenoid is down on the starter. You need a big battery cable going to the starter and also a smaller one to activate the solenoid.

battery and starter wires can go on either side of the starter relay without any issues at all, as long as all power wires are on battery side, and only starter wire is on the other side.

That's a fact, it matters not as long as it has the wires in the right spots
All the battery feeds and fuse links on one side and the start wire on the other

Right On!, Thanks! Thats what I figured. I’m chasin this battery light issue and I wanted to confirm that the relay wiring would not cause the light to stay on

12.5 off
14.5 running
I tried 2 other alternators also to rule out voltage regulator. All 3 alternators showed the same and no drop with a/c, lights on. All Grounds have been cleaned and tight. Truck sat for 5 years and we just put the motor back in and got her running. Battery light was never an issue when we parked her.

ok, volts are good.
have you tried wiggling the connector on the alternator to see if the light will go out?
the connectors in the plug tend to loosen with age and loose contact with the pins in the alternator.

yeah tried that and light doesn’t flicker or go off. I was gonna start tracing tracing the wire and make sure there were no breaks. I was wondering if I should check voltage somewhere else that may cause it to stay on.

Sounds like they are selling you an alternator
The truck still starts in the morning, right?
That light is supposed to go out when the field powers up after the engine starts
That stator wire puts power on both sides of that battery indicator bulb on most of them
You got a EVTM?

So, it should show that battery indicator lamp wire going out to the alternator, correct?
And the other side going to key on power
What year is it?
