So I was changing the transmission pan gasket and filter on my 2003 f350 7.3, and I noticed a lot of cold air coming out of this location (see pic). I'm not sure if that's the blower motor or not. A neighbor suggested just putting in an expanding foam to seal it, But i wondered if maybe it was a relief valve or something. Nevertheless I want to do it right.
If it isn't normal, is there a seal kit or something I can buy or is this just a new blower motor. I will say that my AC does feel like it's lacking in the Cab, Thinking maybe there is air escaping. The Inside Reading from a vent was about 45 degrees..
That is sealed with butyl putty. I use the lap tape for pbr roofing, just take about 1 foot of it and kneed it into a ball then roll it to a log shape and then press it in and firm it around the pipe and press it partially into the box.

Thank you Helifixer, I guess my neighbor was right, that's the fix. Shall I remove the Butyl putty that is currently in place?. Appreciate the response.
The foam sealing the heater box is just deteriated. They make a type of putty that you can put in there to replace it.
It's not a refrigerant leak, just an air leak. Probably blows hot air if the heater is on.
45 at the vent isn't bad depending on ambient and if the truck is moving.
