Aftermarket Steering Column

Members,
1965 F 100
For years if you wanted a new tilt column you always came across the dreaded, GM style wiring and steering wheel.
Now I see they finally make a Ford column with Ford wiring and you can even use your or steering wheel.
Id like to put one in my truck, but! is it truly a bolt in and the wiring is a breeze or is it something needing modification and it needs the knowledge of more then the average guy? I’d really enjoy a tilt wheel cause either my trucks shrinking or I’m getting bigger!
Anyone tackle this project?

Not sure the precise answer to your question, however, you might consider that you will gain more clearance by shortening any steering column by about 4”. This moves the wheel closer to the dash. I think that will give you at least as much as a tilt column. This is my judgement, after having done both.

The most you'll have to do is final trimming of the shaft to fit the proper length depending on which steering box and u-joint / rag joint you use. I was able to use my factory wire connectors with the ididit wiring installed in the correct order. Pricy but well worth it if your not able to scoop up a factory tilt column from a donor truck.
