Hahaha, thanks for answering for me true 4.2. Insurance is always a good excuse to.
BTW I had trouble displaying the pictures until i enabled cookies, go to your internet options in the control panel folder, and make sure that cookies are enabled. That fixed the picture problem for me.
I figured thats why you had the 3.8. But I was curious....I personally dont like stangs after 92, but thats another thread. Car looks great, and if your pullin 14.1 in the 1/4.....thats when you say, "Put up or shut up" to the 4.6 goobers out there.
thanks for the good comments. I thought the car looks pretty nice too but I was trying to sell if for the past 14months for 8,000$ with 23,000mi on it, and no one will take it. Then I decided to keep it and put in one of your 4.2's.
So are your really going to put a 4.2 in that thing? I don't know that I've ever even seen that before. Of course I have never looked. Be sure you keep us posted. Also, did you try the question in the other forums as well?

I know a few people who have done the 4.2 swap to their Mustangs. A guy in Cincinnati put a 97 4.2 into his 97 Mustang. He supercharged it and did a few other things, he dynoed at 330rwhp. Another guy here is building his own 4.2 right now. He wants to run 12's N/A, then pile the nitrous on after that

Reaching 12's N/A is his GOAL. Sorry if I made it seem like he was already there. His current best is a 13.6 @ 98, with a 3.8L. He got a junkyard 4.2L and is in the process of rebuilding it. Not completely sure of what his setup is gonna be, but I know he is going for at least a 10:1 CR.
There is a lot of potential in these 3.8/4.2 motors, but the problem is that nobody really puts much effort/money into them. Once most people get some money they either swap to a V8, or sell off the V6 and just buy a V8. Also our lack of "aftermarket" products limits what the average person does to their sixer. You gotta be pretty hardcore to build a fast V6 Mustang/T-Bird/F-150/etc..
"Any idiot can make a V8 go fast, but it takes a special kind of idiot to make a V6 go fast"
"Any idiot can make a V8 go fast, but it takes a special kind of idiot to make a V6 go fast"
LoL, did you come up with that yourself? Very true though. Touched my heart. Lack of aftermarket products for a Mustang V6? Are you nuts?! There are tons!
Nah, I did make that one up. I read it in someone's sig
The aftermarket has really grown over the past few years, but before then all you could get was a CAI, exhaust...basic stuff. The only way to get better flowing heads/intakes was to do them yourself with a die grinder, or you could always make your own intake. The guy I was talking about in my last post, ported & polished his heads himself, and actually made his own upper intake out of sheetmetal. You can see a picture of his engine in the February 2003 issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords (pg 155). Look for the red 98 Mustang with the ugly green engine
You guys know a lot of the V6 Mustang parts will work on your trucks, right? You can get the ported split-port heads, and lower intake (make sure it has the IMRC's), of course the upper intake is different.
Here is the MM&FF article with the ugly green engine MM&FF article
