Test drove two Super Duty trucks recently and noticed that one seems to have much stiffer steering. The 250 Lariat seemed to have a lighter steering, but the XL 350 required much more input in turns and tracking.
I am presuming that this is due to the adaptive steering or is there anything on the 350 that would cause this? Unfortunately, the dealer didn't have a Lariat 350 trim to test drive.
I'm coming from a very easy driving 06 Tundra, where I can drive it with almost two fingers and am curious if I could mimic that style of required input on an 350. Not a deal breaker, but it's quite comfortable.
So not adaptive steering then, it is no longer available as of 2023MY.
Ford did introduce electronic power steering assist on some builds starting 2020. It's possible that one truck had it and the other didn't. Looking through the drivers side wheel well you will see a silver bracket on the trucks equipped with it.
Adaptive steering doesn't do anything to reduce steering effort. It varies the number of turns of the steering wheel, based on vehicle speed, required to go full left to full right and vice versa.

good to know.
have a 21 f250 without the steering assist and it takes considerably more effort to maneuver in tight spaces vs the 23 that has it.
