I have it on my 2019. It's worth is a very personal decision. I consider it a convenience item like heated/cooled seats. Nice to have but if I didn't have it I would still enjoy the truck. I like it and spec'd it out in my ordered truck. I was less concerned about cost on this purchase and more focused on convenience. Some love it others would not want it if it were free.
No. I drove one and didnt like it. I don’t like the way they feel on the highway. I feel like it’s too sensitive and you get too much feedback.
Interesting since it has no affect at highway speeds unless in tow/haul mode.
Adaptive steering affects only the steering ratio at low speeds and I have not found it to change steering feel or effort. Just curious, did you try a truck with and without adaptive steering to confirm the steering feel you experienced was due to the adaptive steering?
I definitely would recommend the OP try it, if able, to see what it is like.
You have to be careful about what people are referring to. Many believe adaptive steering is the lane departure feature. Adaptive steering only speeds up the ratio at low speeds. It adjusts to "normal" steering at higher road speeds to prevent the sneeze reaction from putting you in a ditch. There are differences in trucks too. 2019 and earlier used hydraulic steering assist, while later trucks are electric assist. They have a different feel. I have adaptive in my 2018 and it's great having that assist in parking lots. My highway feel is very nice.

The other thing to consider is repair cost when out of warranty.
Was discussed on here recently and you have to replace the whole steering wheel and module as an assembly and the cost was extremely high.

I think this guy doesn't understand how it works.
I’ve got it on my truck, and I’ll never order another truck without it. Where it shines is “in town”, and the way it handles turns. . You can turn a corner with so much less wheel turn. Makes the truck handle like a short wheelbase car.
Love it!

I’ll echo these comments. I just traded in a 2020 King Ranch for a 2021 Platinum with Adaptive Steering. The difference between the two trucks is tremendous. I can make U-turns with Adaptive Steering that would hang up a standard truck.
My wife even commented about how much more pleasant it is to operate in parking lots.
For a 1-2% increase in MSRP (depending upon other options), it’s a strong buy.

i never knew it did something different in tow haul, just asking... what does it do differently?

According to Ford when in tow haul mode the steering will react slower to driver input at higher speeds, but still provide the benefits of less rotations at slow speed.
You really need to drive both and decide for yourself. My 2017 has it and I know it's different on the newer ones however I decided against it on the 2022 I just ordered.

I don't think that is accurate.
All the supetduty f250 and larger have used a electric motor in the steering wheel for the adaptive steering.
The motor turns the steering shaft at a higher rate than the steering wheel is turned so the overall ratio is much quicker.
works great for parking and backing up trailers
