[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Jan-02 AT 02:17 PM (EST)]I own a 2000 Excursion Limited 4X4 V10 with 48,000 miles. Three of the power door lock actuators have gone bad and had to be replaced. Has anyone experienced this same problem? It seems weird that three of them have failed within 4 months of each other.
I am just now going through the same thing. On my 2000, the driver front and both passenger side locks work periodically. It seems that they don't have enough power to raise and lower the locks. I was thinking that there was some type of relay or energizer. I am right around 47000 miles. Please let me know which locks went bad.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Jul-02 AT 00:30 AM (EST)]I am also having trouble with the acuators on the rear passenger doors and the lift gate on my 2000 Excursion 2wd, 43000 miles. They all went bad within 30 days of each other. I have current to the actuators so I will try to replace them. The best price I found for new parts is at www.fordpartsforless.com, $54.04 each. My Ford Dealership wanted $200 in labor plus parts per door. You can replace in about 45 minutes per door.
I had recently purchased Power Door Lock actuators for a Mercury Grand Marquis at www.powerdoorlock.com They are located in florida and shipped me the parts in two days. I'm not sure how much the Excursion parts will cost, but it may be worth a try.
ALL of our door lock actuators went bad! And, of course, the dealership wants $718 to fix them. 2000 Excursion, 60K miles. And, we blew past the 36K warranty last year. But, I talked to the service manager, and he said he talked to Ford, and that they would offer me some kind of "extension" on the warranty -- I would only have to pay 25% of the repair bill. So, $179 repair on a piece-of-junk actuator that doesn't last 3 years! The guys in the service department said they're seeing a lot of this. And, based on the info on the web, it's a prevalent problem. We haven't authorized the repair yet -- we may see if the regional manager or the 1-800 line will pay for the whole thing.
Has anyone else been able to get the dealership to pay for the whole repair, post-traditional warranty?
