G-man, welcome to the forum!

I suggest that you read a lot of posts about your future truck to help you get a better sense of it.

Mileage varies based on driver but 16mpg average is something that you can bank on.

Maintenace costs vary based on the owner & where you live and who does the servicing. Count on more maintenance consumables compared to a gasser.

You're welcome! make sure you take a look at the Superchips Micro-Tuner available here at the online store!! A bit cheaper than the Banks and will give you great results + the mileage increase that you are looking for!

G-Man ,

I have a 2002 Excursion PSD and i love it. This is my first truck i have had with a Diesel - and i was abit timid about having a PSD as a my daily driver, but so far i havent had a issue at all , except the dealer i bought the truck from blows..I have racked up 10,000 miles so far and the truck is actually running better than when i first bought it new. My average MPG is around 16.2-17.0 , really depends on how i drive, etc..Keeping the truck under 2000RPM's def. helps on the MPG issue. I plan on getting a Superchips tuner thinge soon - and will see how that helps out the MPG.

Good Luck ,

That's great, what model did you go with ??? Limited / XLT ??? What kind of $$$ should I expect to shell out for the beast ???

What did you pay for first service and what are the intervals recommended by the dealer ???

I am going to go with 4X4, living in Colorado you get to see some interesting weather changes...

I have a Silver with Grey leather 2002 XLT 4X4 with the Powerstroke Diesel.Leather-power everything-power pedals - etc...Basically everything you can get except the reverse sensing system. I also got a sweet deal on a used set of Limited wheels to get rid of the nasty XLT wheels. As far as maintence goes , i chage the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. I hear you can go up to 4,000 on the powerstroke , but i plan on keeping this truck for a long time. My truck was up in the mid 40's range , but i know a guy at the dealer i bought the truck at , so i got some cash off. I am happy with the purchase , and i am sure you will be too..
