August 2023 Missouri Chapter Chat/BS thread.
Also if you have a Windows lap top, and once you open the lets say "Quick reply page", hit the Windows icon and the H, and that will open the voice typing cool ness. Let the microphone turn on and then talk and it will auto type. Also works same way on word documents. Hit the settings icon (on the little pop up) and it has punctuation options.
Morning all. Fist night since before the weekend that I made it through the night without major muscle cramps. Still very sore from this weekend's yard work but I can deal with that.
RC always working smarter not harder.
Dan if you have to cut the bed bolts off, here are replacements that are the newer style with the allen wrench heads and clips.

Thank you for the link! I'm just going to buy them now and assume that I won't be able to get them out without a fight. I can always keep them for other projects.
This weather is nice to have. Getting some stuff done outside that I put off due to the heat.
thanks for the tip Rich! In my experience though, alexa and others don't understand jefferson county hoosier! Have to finish weedeating and trimming today. Pickup new trailer tires and a battery for my trailer breakaway switch. Mommas birthday so out to dinner tonight. Better get going!
Dave. I made the announcement on the team page that a 50% non-refundable deposit will be required from now on to start any project. Like Ed Quay told me years ago, "If you can't afford half down at the beginning, you'll never be able to afford to pick it up when it's done."
I'm gonna clean up the shop and put some stuff away this morning, then get on the mower after the dew burns off.
getting a 'large' deposit up front is normal operating procedure for any kind of custom work.. i always tried to figure parts and supplies, and get that up front before starting on a custom build.. even while doing that, i still snapped my last nerve on several jobs...... thats when i started building my own projects like i wanted them built..
.. then if a customer liked the project, putting up a large deposit would move the work along faster and "somewhat" to your spec's.......... still always remember the public is a fickle mistresswell speaking of fickle mistress's.... i have to contact one today.. ha ha ha ha ha ha
the rest of ya'll have a great..
.. day looks like the weather will be cooperating
Wife's at Slc so she can pin 7 soon hopefully so all the chores are on me for now. Hoping to get to do a little work out "in" the shop, so far most of it has still been outside of it.
This was my Sat morning project, it'llbe mowable now if i can get grass to grow on it (I'mbetter at tearing it up than I am at growing it lol). Then serviced & hauled skid back to brothers & did similar but smaller scale excavation around his shop so the crew can strip, repair & reskin his.
Took a lil time & moved the crew inside to get started on it.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
last couple of days have had me chasing my tail. Got the Buick's windshield installed yesterday so there's one item checked off the list. Today I went and got a new CPAP machine and was refitted for the masks I already use?
Must be an insurance thing. I've only been using the same mask type for better than 10 years. I'd hope I know how to fit one by now. The UPS driver just came and brought me the deck Drive belt so I guess maybe this evening, if it cools down some, I'll change out the blades lube the hubs and install the new belt. That means tomorrow it's back to mowing.
I really had planned to take advantage of the cooler weather but, as always, Life gets in the way. I've got a couple of small things to sand blast for the 60. Maybe I can get those knocked out today.
Hey Alan I'll pay ya 1/2 down for making me a super cab. Just let me know when ya want me to bring you the cabs.
Which reminds me, Rich, did you ever ask Scott's if they'd sell that cab? Pretty sure it's a 53-55 up on top of a flatbed.
Not the 40 degree output I usually aim for but not bad.
A while back Sherry and I bought a small antique oak dresser to use in the back bathroom. We've had one there for several years but never actually liked it very well. Note: with a (hundred year old) pedestal sink this gives us some storage space. All the other antiques in our house are primitives and this one was sort of "fancified walnut." Since the weather has cooled a bit we opened the big shop door and started refurbishing this "new" one. Actually Sherry did most of the work. One thing I learned today is that sanding belts (4"x24") must have a shelf life. I tried to use 3 or 4 that lasted only a couple of minutes before self-destructing. Even though these belts had never been out of the original packaging they were probably 20 years old. Eventually I had to finish up by putting the old worn out 120 grit belt back on the sander. Anyone else had that happen?
A couple of weeks ago we bought a small table that I'm going to use as a nightstand on my side of the bed. It also is an oak antique. We're refurbishing it too. It will replace the round table I've been using for years. It will be nice to not have things fall off of the back of the table as they do with the round table.
I spent part of the day welding. I'm building a tumbler to clean up rusted parts/bolts/nuts/etc. I've got to build a motor mount and then paint it. I'll post pix when it's up and running. I think I'll take the media out of my sand blast cabinet to use in this tumbler and put new media in the cabinet.
We finished the day by showering and heading into town for dinner. As nice as it was sitting down to having dinner without fixing it ourselves we were just about beat to a pulp by the time we got home.
Tomorrow we get to continue working on the antiques and tumbler.
Not too much going on here. Although my daughter had her car window broken out up in Fulton Sunday morning. They didn't steal anything. She brought it home and she cleaned all the glass up. I ran out and got a temporary window kit from AutoZone. That didn't even last until Holts Summit. So she stopped at our son's place there and we brought her our car. I normally use Safelite, previous work was covered under insurance. This wasn't. Safelite quoted $380 and On Site Glass quoted $240. I was shocked at the difference. It took the guy about 30 minutes to replace the glass, passenger side front door. It looks like he did a good job.
Last night we took her car up, plus food and a few other things and took her out to dinner. She is getting settled into college now.
I broke down and ordered a horn wiring kit and horn button. I figured it would be good to have for my Truckstock trip.
I posted this on the 48-56 forum, but you all would be better candidates. Someone needs to buy this house in Centertown.
