Yesterday i posted that Timberline Vans in Colorado is closing its shop. Today it was announced that MGMetalWorks another maker of Ford E-series 4x4 conversion kits will also be closing its doors for good.
I doubt they’re walking away from work. With factory 4x4 Sprinters and Transit Trails, there can’t be much continuing demand for Econoline conversions. Yes it sucks for those who need conversions serviced particularly when conversions are chock full of custom parts and not fully documented.
I wouldnt have said he is quitting the business completely if it wasnt true. He is moving to another part of the country to persue other interests.
Tim the owner of Timberline is closing the shop and will no longer do conversions or product development. He stated he would continue selling parts for the E-series at least for a while.
But we all know without a shop to test fit and develop parts eventually he will likely stop selling parts as well. He stated all of the staff has already been let go.
Hi, Tim from Timberline here, just thought I'd drop in, I don't spend a lot of time on the forums, but had a few emails regarding our business and thought I'd update this thread.
Timberline is very much alive, just in the parts iteration only, located at timberlinesupply.com. We pivoted in late 2023 to a parts-only model, discontinuing our service and installation operations. In short, the parts business growth outpaced our custom van business and it was a pretty straightforward decision to make. Having vehicles to test parts on has never been a challenge for us, and we have been acquiring new equipment to speed both the development and distribution of our components.
We sincerely appreciate the support over the years and hope to continue offering parts and components for many years to come! -Tim.
