my friend wanted to buy a rear wheel drive f650 and convert it to 4x4.
I told him he is nuts and it would be cheaper to just find a 4x4. I told him I would come on here and ask if anyone has ever done it and/or if it could be done. Please let me know your thoughts if this is possible. I told him about 15000 to do it if possible.

Anything is "possible"! Pretty much [I]all[I early 4x4's were a conversion of sorts. Whether he wants to go with the expense and labor is another matter
Having a vehicle already and then converting it into something else is one thing. The cost of conversion would be less than the cost of getting a new one. If he knows what he wants before he buys it then it is much easier to just find what he is looking for in the first place.
