While checking the lights after hooking up our 5th wheel trailer I noticed something strange with the rear lights on our 2022 F-450. Hoping you guys can advise what lights should be on in certain situations.
Here's what I found on ours.
When the 4-ways are on the: Right side has the amber and top red flashing.
Left side has the amber and bottom red flashing.
When the turn signals are on: Right side has the amber and top red flashing.
Left side has the amber and the bottom red flashing.
When the brakes are applied: All three lights on both sides are lit.
When I was following another newer Super Duty this morning I noticed that only the amber flashed when he changed lanes and only the four reds lit when he slowed. I'm thinking this is what ours should be doing. Any ideas on what may be wrong and a fix?
On my 22, signals and 4-ways are amber only, brake lights are red only.
AFAIK, that is how they are supposed to be, can't imagine how they would get to doing what you describe.
Have you checked without the 5th wheel being hooked up? That is where I would start so you can at least have a starting point, with or without trailer.

Yeah, best first thing to check, make sure it is or isn't feedback from trailer wiring.
Ltngdrvr _ This is what I believe ours should be doing also.
Yes, I have verfied without trailer plugged in. Exactly the same scenario.
Just went out and checked taillights and they are correct, all red, top and bottom.
My 22 F-250 only flashes the amber with the turn signal or 4-way and it only lights up the top and bottom red when the brakes are applied. Does the same thing with or without the trailer plugged in. I have stock halogen taillights, no LED's.
The cause of your problem could be hiding in lots of places. You could have a bent pin in a connector, a shorted wire in a bundle or a mis-wired bundle.
As for a fix, I would let the dealer use their warranty powers unless your 22 is already out of warranty.
Truck is still under warranty so my best bet is to let the dealer figure it out. We bought this used from a Ford dealer and I do need to run it back up there to fix a Parking Aid Fault.
