The flexplate cracking is a common problem for these trucks so maybe they’re onto something.
I’m not convinced the sound is correct for that though.
I don’t get the TC stator idea. Seems that noise should be kind of buried in the TC if that were the case. Did it drive ok?
Wish you could have drained the fuel bowl into a container before taking to a shop. Might have saved a diagnostic fee if something showed up there but oh well.
Keep us informed of what they find.
Drives fine, no lights on dash overheating or anything, just that noise. While taking it to the shop 9min away, I could tell it would quiet down/ go away when accelerating and at idle you could hear it like the video.
I agree with me checking the fuel and what not, just wanted to get back on the road sooner than later. If it’s anything tranny related I should be covered, just had it rebuilt by a transmission shop. Would of been 2month in a few days. Can’t recall, but think they told me they replaced the flexplate twice if I’m right. For sure replaced it once that’s for sure.
If that’s the problem i dont know what they could of done to have it break/crack. I’ll know hopefully tomorrow
If it’s the flexplate you might want to consider using a slightly beefier SFI approved version from Summit Racing.
If it were the stator I would have expected you to at least feel some difference in the way it drove. It should help with the torque multiplication while TC is not in lockup. But I’ve never had a broken stator so
YOU NEED TO PULL THAT HOOD INSULATION OFF,
RIGHT NOW !!!!!
I see it blowing around, exactly like it was on my Excurstion, the loose fibreglass floats around, and the Alternator sucks it inside.... then the Alternator burns up from Overheating..... cost me a very Expensive Leece Neville alternator, much bigger than the new one I had to buy to replace it, just a few months ago.
Thanks for the input, I’ll look into doing that. Recently put a new alternator as well.
Was a broken Flywheel, around where it’s bolted down.
Common problem. Sorry we went all over the place instead of helping get to the actual problem. Well except for knottyrope, I think he mentioned it early on.
Glad you’ve got it fixed and back on the road. Thanks for coming back with the solution. Now we can recalibrate our ears and maybe have better help for the next guy.
