Wheels and Tires Question

Hello i have a 1994 f150 short bed 4x4 with the 5.0. I am going to be adding a rough country 2.5 inch lift and want to upgrade to bigger tires and get different rims. I want to run 33's is that possible without rubbing? I have no idea what tire sizes and rim sizes to look for. So far I think I need 33 12.5 r15 tires and 15x8 5x5.5 rims. Will this work ? What offset do I need on the rims? Is there anything else I should know before doing this ? Thank You !

15x18 rims....I didn't even know those exist. Usually rims are 15x7 or 15x8.

In theory, rough country should be able to answer all of that for you…

You need a little bit of negative offset for 8" wheels and taller tires.. .around 10-12mm seems to be commonly available.

You want your rims to be no more than 2" narrower than your tires. I've ran 31x12.50x15 on a 15x8 rim, but it looks pinched.
A 15x10 rim will look right with a 12.50 tire on it.

You will need to cut the front bumper to not rub with 33s I believe
If you do it right, it is barely noticeable except to your wash mitt.

RC website, looks like it’s all listed right there. Make sure when shopping around for wheels you are measuring either backspacing or offset. They are using off set on their website. If it were me, I’d make a quick phone call to confirm my choice. Before you call, have an idea what type of terrain you’ll be travelling on to discuss tire sizes, widths, etc.

From their website:
32x11.50R15 15x8 5x5.5 -19 (off set). No trimming.

Many other tire / wheel combos listed under this, near the bottom of the page in the link.

Good luck with the project.

Another good option is to run 33x10.5R15 tires. They're narrower so they don't require much effort to fit and you can retain factory wheels, something I'd advise if you've got the OEM alloy wheels. They're tough. Spacing out the front bumper 1/2" is usually all it takes to fit them, maybe a tiny rub on the radius arms but that's not always the case. You can then put the saved money into better shocks, or a leaf spring upgrade instead of using blocks.

What's the intended use for the truck?

If lots of dirt miles, a narrow wheel and wide tire is sometimes called a poor man's beadlock. When aired down you're less likely to lose the tire bead seal. But if planning for mostly road miles you'll burn the tire centers prematurely.

Plan for a regear or stop using OD if you go to that much tire.
