Loose injectors

Hey I’m new here, my brother gave me my grandpas truck and I’m working on getting it running again, it’s a 1986 F250 with the 6.9 idi and a C6 tranny

So I got the truck running and heard a bad knock that turned out to be an injector knock, so I replaced them and part of the return line and now the truck runs rough, I noticed when I try to crack my injectors to bleed it that one of my injectors spins and is loose, would this cause the rough running? There is also smoke or steam that comes from the oil dipstick is that normal? Or could that be caused from the injector being loose?
I should note that the injector that is loose is also one that I reused the copper washer for, is that bad? Did I mess something up and should I pull the injector and put a brand new copper washer on?

Sorry if this has been asked already I couldn’t find an answer anywhere so if anyone has any information that would be great, thanks!

Make sure you're just loosening the injection line nut above the fuel return fitting when you bleed the injectors. Don't loosen the injector itself.

Also, don't use hardware store copper washers under the injectors. When you replaced your injectors you should have also replaced the fuel return fittings and washers. Delphi 7135-264 is the kit you need:

X2, do not loosen up the Injector, Just the cap on to secure the Hard Line.

The Copper washers are a crush/sealing Washer, and one time use.
I don`t know where to purchase just the washers w/o buying a whole new return kit.

Cut the new return hose the exact same length as the old ones. Put all 4 caps together
with the Spring Clamps.
Remove the old Viton "O" Ring`s off the top of the Injectors.
Clean off the grooves, I blow them off with a can of Carb Cleaner.
Grease the grooves and new Rings.
Roll on the first Ring, then roll the 2nd one over that one to the 2nd groove.

Put some grease inside the caps, (just need some lube inside, don`t go overboard)
Place all 4 caps on the Injectors, push down till they click into place.

The smoke you see, is Blow By gasses from the Crank Case. When the Piston fires,
some pressures blow past the rings, All engines have the Blow By, some more than
others. Higher the mileage, the more it will have.
You Have something like 22 : 1 compression ratio.

There is a CDR on the rear of the Intake Manifold, Turbo Engine, it is on the Vallve
Cover. I directs the BB into the intake to be burned. Similar the a PCV Valve on a
gas engine.

Thanks for the response guys! I bought a new return line kit and it came with washers, so now the injectors aren’t loose anymore but the truck still runs rough, there is a small fuel leak next to the lift pump could that he letting air in causing the rough idle?

If fuel is escaping, chances are that it's allowing air intrusion too. Do you have a mechanical lift pump on the front, bottom of the engine?

I do have a mechanical lift pump, I’ve replaced it already and bypassed the water separator but I have a small fuel leak around the lift pump

Double check those fuel lines between your fuel pump and fuel filter. They're the likely culprits.
