Quick question, anyone have a way to fake a trailer connection on a 23? Trying to activate the camera with turn signal. So far an adapter with test lights stuck into the gooseneck plug doesn't do the trick. Tried searching with no luck.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but...
I bought a simple light kit, which has 2 led strips with brake and running lights, from E Trailer. It utilizes the 4 pin connector. i put it on our hitch mount bike carrier because the fat tires block my truck's tail lights. The truck recognizes it as the "trailer" named "bike carrier" every time I plug it in.

that's probably the route I'll go. Just stuff the lights in a piece of pvc and rock on.

Interesting. I noticed when I tried to tell it the default trailer was hooked up it cut my miles till empty in half.
You should be able to go into the settings and turn it on with or without a trailer on.
Negative, at least not what I've seen. Setting is turned on but I believe it only works with a trailer attached.
I looked at the naviks kit, but after watching a video I wasn't too impressed. The options look nice but the lag time to turn the cameras on was crazy long. I'd be done backing up before the camera switched on..

Reason: Typo
It needs to see running lights, and resistance on the brake/turn legs. Thats how it knows if a trailer is connected. If doesn't actually NEED lights, just the resistance.
