Changing TPMS range

Ok, I'd like to run less tire pressure and possibly get new tires but anything less than the OEM settings of 50 turn on the tire light. How do I do this? New sensors? Forscan? ( Don't know anything about it). Or some other work around? I don't even so much care if they work, just don't want a dash light on all the time. I stay on top of my tire pressures, any work arounds?

Pretty much have three options:
Keep pressures in a range that doesn't turn on the light
Deal with the light
Adjust via Forscan

Initially I ran at the lowest settings that would keep the light from coming on. Then I got new tires with a max psi of 65, so that wasn't an option for the rears. Finally ordered the Forscan adaptor and adjusted the minimum level down.

Thanks. I kind of figured that that's what was going to have to happen, I have a friend lightly versed in forscan so hopefully we can figure it out. thank you

I tackled Forscan for my first time the other night. Just follow the help/pointers that many have posted and it is simple for TPMS as it is in the plain English settings, not just as built.

A ford dealer can change the settings too.

Yes, they have the ability, but good luck finding one that will set it lower than recommended values on the door sticker.

For my ‘19 I found the TPMS will alarm about 15 psi below what I set with FORScan. I run 60 psi empty (when I think to air down) and 80 loaded on the rears. I set the TPMS at 65 so I’d not get a warning light at 60 but I’d get an alarm if a tire ever got down to 50. This works fine for me.

So keep in mind that setting the TPMS at a low number might result in your truck not letting you know there’s a problem before it’s too late. You can also use FORScan to disable the TPMS system altogether. In any case do some testing to see where the system actually alarms once you set the threshold lower. YMMV.

When I picked mine up, TPMS low pressure warning was on. I asked to put a "little" more air in.
They air'd them up max reading on sticker. Said that is all we can legally do. Thing road like a brick
on way home from dealer.

It's easy to get the dealer to perform as a condition of the sale of the truck. That's when I get it done, along with all firmware updates.

ForScan is pretty easy to use. If you can run a computer well enough to post on this forum, you can run forscan... Every Ford owner should have it. It greatly improves the truck experience. I have ditched a bunch of useless warnings, adjusted for larger tires and reset TPMS thresholds.

The whole argument about "if you have a problem"... lots of us were driving well before this tech existed and didn't die. It is still one push of a button to check tire pressures before you set off. Easy enough to check on the fly if the truck starts feeling strange on the road. The notion that you NEED TPMS is comical to me. Useful tool but never stop paying attention to how the truck is driving.
