I see they had no choice but to put side mirrors on it. I seem to recall that being a point of contention with Musk. Too bad we can't see more of it.

Is Musk in this picture? My $0.02 is I have a hard time getting past the looks and for some odd reason I get the DeLorean flash back with the SS panels.

I'm not playing where's Waldo lol. I'm starting to lighten up on the looks of that wedge. If the price is right I'd buy one (rather have a Lightning) but right now all of them are stupid expensive.

You'd think he would be there as this would be considered a major milestone for his company. I'm scanning your picture left to right trying to find this cat and couldn't find him.

Not my pic, just one that's on the net from the news and Musk has never been any sort of normal.

Man I would probably have to drink a case of Bud Light errrrrr Shiner Bock before I could warm up to that design.

Re: exterior rear view mirrors

I believe DOT requires them on vehicles driven on American highways. The trucking industry has been trying to move to cameras but since they'd be subject to failure leaving the driver without any sort of rear or side views The industry rightfully claims the current designs greatly disrupt the aerodynamics of the vehicle, eliminating them would be more fuel efficient.

Off topic but you reminded me of my 1992 Chevy truck when I installed a plastic hood protector on the leading edge of the hood (popular add on during the '90's) and later noticed my rear view mirrors were vibrating like crazy when driving down the highway. It took me a while, but I discovered this plastic hood protector disrupted the aerodynamics and was routing turbulent air to those mirrors. Took the plastic hood protector off and the mirrors no longer vibrated.

^^^

That just goes to show small changes in the body can affect the aerodynamics, things that seem insignificant at first. Thanks for the reminder!

For me, mirrors are much preferred. You can change the field of view by moving your hear a little. A camera wont allow for that. As for the looks of the CyberTruck? The free market will decide. If people are standing in line to buy them, expect that to have an influence on auto design in the future. Otherwise this is the next Pontiac Aztek.
