Does anyone know of a product that actually works to remove rust? I need to remove all this rust from my spindles before i put it all back together. I used a wire wheel in a drill on them but it doesnt seem to phase the bottom layer. Not really wanting a rust convertor but rather a product that will eat or remove the rust so i can spray some paint on them before i put it together.
Sounds like a great product if a person just happens to have a fresh air oxygen hazmat suit. Im sure it works wonders on rust but its not a chemical i want to be handling in my driveway.
Unfortunately, the stuff that works can be a pain to use. I never use it inside, and have not had any issues outside wearing rubber gloves and a mask with organic vapor filters.
As much as I loathe mechanically removing some rust it really is the best way, quite a bit less potentially hazardous to yourself and the environment. Once most of the rust is removed something like POR-15 is my go to choice to greatly reduce further rust formation over time.
