Have any of you restorers used Rust Bullet's product. They are a forum sponsor, and there product seems to be what I'm looking for. If the rules of this forum do not prevent feedback on sponsors' products, I would like to know what you think about Rust Bullet.
I have used Both Rust Bullet and POR-15. The Rust Bullet seems to be a more substantial product, both on application and over time, at least in the automotive Rust Bullet which is the only type of Rust Bullet I have used.
I have some unopened containers of both products and more rust to tackle. The Rust Bullet will definitely be used first.
Remove loose rust and rust scale. It couldn't hurt to sand down to bare metal anywhere you can but they claim you can put it right over top of surface rust. I used it last year and really liked it
I have used the rust bullet before and was amazed how well it worked. It says you can spray it, but I never tried that. I just brushed it on as directed and thats it. It says even if for some reason a spot of it comes off that it will only rust in that area, and all you have to do is apply a little more over it and it's all fixed again. I don't think I'd ever try anything else.
Be aware that Rust-oleum has now entered the market with their rust treatment. System VS 2100in either aerosol or 1 gal. containers. Most others are in 1 qt. containers and I am sure Rust-oleum beats them in price. Their 15 oz. aerosol, just like Eastwoods, is shelf priced at 7.59 vs 22.99. I didn't price the gallon but there is no doubt it could be no more than 2 qts. of Rust Bullet or maybe less. I saw this at a Kelly-Moore/Rust-oleum outlet whereI gat special paints made up for me. Talking to the guy about new stuff and this was one of them.
Thanks for the info on Rust-oleum's professional rust reformer products. Looks like Grainger may be the only source for this in Northern VA. I'll be buying a gallon of 3575 tomorrow; probably some cans of the aerosol rust converter, too.
