Hi, I'm new to the forum platform and looking for some tech troubleshoot... anyways, I have been working and improving my 1994 Ford F150 4.9l 2WD E4OD XLT Lighting I purchased a couple years ago; one of the issues was replacing and installing a new MPLS sensor or neutral safety switch and now it won't start, no crank, and now I hear one-time click sound either from the bottom starter motor or the top solenoid. Firstly, while removing the old MPLS sensor I had the vehicle in Park(not Neutral where I found out later was where I needed it) the manual shift lever had moved while I was attempting to loosen it and I quickly moved it back into Park. After installing the new sensor and also replacing the updated connector, I attempted to start the truck with no luck. After reading somewhere that the clicking sound could be a dead battery or bad starter promptly checked, charged and got a new starter motor (under warranty) and installed both. And again, nothing... just the same one click sound and now pretty much stumped and where to go next and check, so... I am plainly asking... 1. Do I need to adjust or "align" the safety switch sensor and if so, how far and does the linkage cable need to be attached to the shift lever or do I de-attach the cable until I need to test start it? 2. Which way does the transmission shift? from rear to front or front to rear from the vantage point of facing directly at the manual shift lever? 3. Do I need to consider possible some other issues that could be part of the bigger problem? Sorry for being so thorough but trying to find answers, solutions, and tons of YouTube videos have so far widened the gap of with little to no information other than grainy pictures, vague answers and DYI videos that only cover small portions of information.
