I could have weighed one a few months ago, in the box. I'm gonna guess near 45 pounds.

Just weighed mine. Y'all are good estimators. It came in at 51 pounds. That's without the hardware on it (latch, rods, etc). I'd add another pound or two for those. Interestingly enough, the replacement part I bought from NPD is listed as being 14.5 kilograms, or 31.9 pounds. So if there was ever any doubt that the Taiwanese re-pops aren't as good of a quality build as the OEM stuff you can see it right there in the data. The steel is obviously a thinner gauge.

DANG! I was gonna say 50 pounds, but then I considered my age and thought maybe was just me still recovering, so I hedged ... I REALLY WAS.

There is a lesson in this for me.

Thanks all! Looks like DC is indeed sending a proper "original tooling" unit at a hefty 48 pounds packed!

If the tailgate weight it to much, check this mod out. Add a Dee Zee tailgate assist shock for late model F150 and a newer flex style cable.

If it works on early Broncos, (we have the same hinged arms). So should work on ours. https://classicbroncos.com/forums/th...st-mod.305539/
