diffrence between c series and d series

Hi everyone,
What is the diffrence between c series heads e.g. C8ve and D series heads e.g. D0ve,D2ve,D3ve,D9ve? is one from a car series of motors and the other form a truck series of motors?

Thanks for your help
Aaron

C series are 60's heads or whatever and D is for the 70s.

First letter=decade (C=60, d=70, e=80, etc..) The number=Year. The letter after the number=the line (V-Lincoln,T=truck,ect...)

C "series" and D0VE heads are basically the same head. The D2's are an open chamber head with a larger cc chamber than the previous heads. The D3 and on heads are back to closed chamber with an even larger cc chamber( not by much though). Once you get to the late 80's you get into the EFI heads and they are a little different yet. The ports are moved. Other than the D2's all the preEFI heads are basically the same except for the combustion chamber size.
