Question about transmission difference between suffix "W" and "E"
Hey, guys. I know this has been asked a million times, but I have never been able to get a straight answer on this, from anyone. There is conflicting information about transmission that end with "E" vs "W" and I am just wondering, is there a difference other than just the speed sensors that make the distinction? I just watched a guy on YouTube state that the difference between 4R75W and 4R75E is the 4R75E does not use the wide ratio planetary gear set like the "W" version does. Can anyone (for certain) tell me if this is true, or not? I have 3 Ford vehicles with the 4R75E and always thought the 4R75W/4R75E was interchangeable. Now, I hear this and wonder.
Here is the link to the video I am referring to. If you skip the video to 3 minutes and 55 seconds, you'll see the part where he mentions the 4R70E and 4R75E transmissions and he states that the "E" version does not use the wide ratio planet set, like the "W" version does.
