question regarding gear ratio

I recently read a post on this topic and it got me thinking. I know nothing about gear ratio. I have a 1967 F100 with a 360 out of a 1972. My question really is 1) how do I find out what my ratio is and 2) is it changeable or do I have to get a whole new rear end to affect ratio? This may seem a very elementary question to you guys, but I really am just a parts changer, not a mechanic, but I'm willing to try things when acquiring some new knowledge. So, thanks for your patience on my simple questions.

Dave, There are several methods used to find ratio, but IMHO the simplest, and the one that will work for both open and limited slip, is to roll the truck one tire revolution and count the driveshaft revolutions.

This guys site has a lot of info on the 9" http://www.kevinstang.com/Ninecase.htm

Ok, thanks for that info. Right now the truck is kinda stuck and I won't be able to move at least for a little while. But then, I will do as you recommend. My follow up question is in regards to changing the ratio. I will pursue the web link that you gave me to see if that answers this question as well. Again, thanks.
