I have a '21 F-350 KR DRW and last year had an incident with a cargo trailer and it damaged my painted rear bumper. In the process it took out one of the rear wiring harness that gave me issues with trailer lights and backup warnings etc.
I just recently had the bumper replaced along with the new wiring harness. Now when I put my weight distribution hitch into the receiver, my backup warning camera highlights it in red and the warning beeper is on constantly. Of course, it only does this in reverse...
Are there any sensitivity adjustments or block out areas that can be set to disregard the hitch? Everything worked prior to the bumper damage. Even with the damaged bumper, the backup camera warning for the hitch was NOT on. Only after the new bumper etc.
Any help, direction would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
After over 200 views, I find it hard to believe that no one else has ever had this problem.
Normally without the hitch in the receiver, the backup camera and distance sensors work as intended. But the camera is picking up the hitch, when installed, as an obstacle to avoid.
I can't find any sensitivity settings to exclude the hitch area as an obstacle to avoid.
On my 2022 when you reverse the dash it asks if you want the sensors on or off and I just select off and then everytime I reverse after that without keying off the sensors will be off. Everytime you cycle the key off and restart the prompt comes up again though.
Yours doesn't have anything pop up on the dash to turn the sensors off when you put it in Reverse?
I have the same problem when my WDH is on the truck. I just turn the audio warning off via the pop up window on the dash. I’m not away of anyway to block out a certain area
had that issue on my 17 f150 but on my 23 f250 when i got the hitcth adjusted to the correct lower ride height(f150 was 2wd,23 f250 4x4 fx4) the sensors no longer pick it up.so if yours didnt do it before and nothing has changed(hitch set up) did something get bent or is the bumper now tilted lower so it sees the hitch more than it did? mabe just needs rear bumper a justed up or at least the angle
Could be one of the sensors in the bumper isn't aligned correctly. It might be possible that one of your sensors is rotated and isn't looking in the correct plane and is now looking at more of an angle so it is "seeing" your WDH. Maybe get under the rear bumper and look at the backside of the bumper to see if all the sensors look like they are mounted in the same orientation and none are twisted.
