T5 transmission
I cant remember if I got the bell with the T5 that was dropped at my door back 100 years ago that I used in my 70 AMC car.
I can tell you you will want to find a WC T5 (world class T5) as it is stronger than a normal T5.
Also if the T5 is in good shape or rebuilt you need to run a positive stop shifter.
What happens is you start pounding gears the the shift forks bend and then the trans will not go fully into gear and you bust a gear tooth or 3 and it is all over with.
Also note that GM also used a T5 but the shifter was mounted in a different place on the tail housing, think forward more?
Thing is if you use the GM tail housing and shift rods o a Ford T5 the speedo holes are in a different place and it is not easy to move the drive gear as the output shaft is harden and cant be mod using hand tools.
So you may find the Ford T5 shifter is too far back and hits the seat.
The T5 / WC T5 is not a hard transmission to rebuild as I rebuilt my WC T5 and also added some hop up parts to make it a little stronger as it was behind a 360 CID in a heavier car than a Mustang.
I do know of a guy running a WC T5 in BIG AMC Machine with a 390 CID. He dose not beat on it as he knows it would not last but he dose get on it once in a while. WC T5 shifter not installed but is rebuilt.
The later T5 have the shifter mounted to the floor of the car and cant be used from what I was told.
Just some of what I remember when doing the T5 in my AMC but I was able to use all AMC parts.

How I cam up with that is that the OP referred to a T5 in a mustang and I could be mistaken but I am thinking that the cable pulls the fork to the front to disengage on a Mustang,
It does, but is does it with pedal depression not release like you stated. The pedal still disengages the clutch with depression and engages the clutch with pedal release like every other manual clutch setup.
To be pulled forward the pivot I believe has to be on the far side of the fork, other side of the opening.
Most of the pivots we know of are on the same side as the opening and to the rear.
For the bell housing the old type will work if it is for a small block, the T5 will bolt to it and the hole for the front bearing support and the last it is deep enough to make the T5 input shaft fit into the motor.

Don't use the Mustang cable clutch bell.
