Tossing around the idea of replacing the C6 with a t5 manual trans. Would be more fun lol and also my headers would fit without modification. So who’s all done a manual transmission swap. What’s all needed. I know it bolts directly up. Need a 28oz flywheel. And s10 tail shaft send to be on everyone’s list. But what else you need to make this happen.
Headers don’t fit very well with the c6
It would be interesting to know how many T5 swaps we have here. I don't think it's that many, actually. I know they're a lot easier to do in the 53+ trucks than the 48-52's, since the stock transmission crossmember is in the way to easily to the job. Later trucks don't have that issue. For you, the hardest part is likely figuring out the clutch linkage routing, and whether to go mechanical, cable or hydraulic.
I looked at doing a t-5 but ended up with a TKX 5 speed, If you are making much power you are going to be on the edge of what a t5 will hold. Most t5's need to be rebuilt and by the time you do that you are getting close to he cost of a TKX, which is rated for twice the power of a t5. I used a external slave cylinder set up.
the T5 is cable operated so the clutch fork needs to go the opposite way as the original mechanical linkage operates, there are adapters that would let you use a old school bell housing that should work with the original mechanical linkage.
On the original setup the clutch cross shaft was supported on the transmission, you would have to fab a mount for that .
I’ll have to crawl under my sons 88gt and take a look at a few things. I was hoping to find a the trans and bell housing together from a wrecker. All the clutch stuff is what I’m unsure of

for that you will probably have to use either cable or hydraulic
But you could connect it to the original clutch linkage with a slight change, that being you would need to depress the clutch pedal to engage the clutch and let it up to disengage, should be able to get used to that

I have no idea where you thought of this set up but it is completely not true. My truck backs up my statement. If he wants to use a cable setup he needs a cable fulcrum for the pedal end and the cable style bellhousing and fork which gets pulled forward with pedal depression for disengagement or he can use his current mechanical pedal and bellcrank assembly(with minor modifications) and the early style (60's-70's) bellhousing and fork that gets pushed to the rear for disengagement. There are photos of my set up in my album and this conversation was just had recently with another member.
