Five Star Tuning
Five Star Tuning
Is anyone using one of their tuners? I see a dyno chart that shows +33HP and +47 lbs of torque on 87 octane. Better gains on 93 but I cannot imagine filling a 48 gallon tank with 93 every time
The numbers with a Procharger kit are nice but again requires 93 octane. I would love to install the kit but not unless gasoline comes back down into the realm of normalcy
22 F250 CCLB 7.3 3.55

On my 6.2, more than any power it was a major improvement with the transmission tuning and response. Major.
I ran an 87 tune but filled with mid grade usually, or at least occasionally topped off with mid or premium. It always ran better on midgrade even prior to the tune.

I have ran 5 Star tunes on severla trucks. I am now on my 3rd F250 with their tunning. I am not sure what engine / truck combo the OP is running. I have had them on '11 Powerstroke, an '11 6.2, and now '20 7.3. The gains are very noticable. I had my 6.2 tunes for 87 & 93 octane. 87 is where the largest gains seemed to come from. When I bought my '20 I have been running the 87 octane daily heavy tow tune. VERY pleased with it. The only "complaint" I would have is that with 3.55 gearing in mine, it wants to pull one gear lower than I feel that it needs to in tow/haul mode. It's just a matter of popping it into manual mode and shifting myself. Downhill shifting is very aggressive which I like. I pull a 9000# 5th wheel. If I had 4:30 gears this truck would be perfect. It is what it is. All my diesel buddies make remarks all the time of my abilitiy to not fall too far away from the pack. I just let it tach up and do it's thing.
I have their tune on my '21 7.3L. I don't notice any more "power", but the way that it shifts is improved substantially. I get way less "dead pedal", though it does still happen on occasion. The tow/haul mode is also way more aggressive than the stock one. With that said, if you already have a programmer to put the tune on, it might be worth it. If you have to buy the programmer plus the tune, I don't think there's enough benefit to make it worth it.
Super Duty is listed in the group of vehicles at the top, even though it is not mentioned beyond that.
