Tune and octane question
Chip and tuner forum is too slow.
2013 F150 5.0
5 Star tune with 87 right now.
Was looking to load 93 performance tune tomorrow.
36 gallon tank. Thought it was closer to empty.
Ended up with 31.5 gallons of 93
close enough to run 93 tune?
If it disagrees and octane is too low, what should I expect the truck to do or act like?

I also have a 13' w/a 5.0 & recently switched from my 87 tune to a 93 tune.
I picked up a can of "Royal Purple Max Boost Octane Boost" as the truck had appx 1/4 tank (8 gal) of gas left. I dumped that in & filled the tank with Premium, then drove home before uploading the 93 tune. My truck never had any issues afterwards. I will say that the Royal Purple seemed to have the biggest # gain & most do not have the expected gain printed (which means not **** IMO). The printed gain is "up to 30 points, 3 numbers" (it takes 10 points to equal 1 octane value) so technically that should only boost my old 87 to a 90. My thought was I was only boosting 8 gallons & the can treats up to 25 gallons, which is nearly x3 of what I needed. Not sure if thats a correct way to think, but the truck ran great. Hope this helps
