well we have different guards, but I can tell you about mine -

Mine bolted between the tow hooks and the frame, and had some stupid little metal hooks that hooked to the top of the bumper pad that really did nothing but damage the bumper pad.

those are the hooks that are like 4" apart on my truck

were yours touching or distanced?

the guard was supposed to sit flush with the bumper I think, but it was a little far out - I think that's what you mean?? If not, distanced from ??
