Sean - Yahiko

While I pray this is wrong, I'm afraid I'm not. But coming here every day and not acknowledging it has been getting hard. Several of us have been talking about this behind the scenes.

It appears that Sean, Yahiko, has passed away. His last posting on 4/6 was about a medical condition he could not go through at a Cath Lab because of the possibility of having pneumonia.

Searching for his last log-on shows 4/15, with no posting. A log-in two days later than the passed-away notice found could be a relative checking his computer activity, not realizing the impact he had on the members of this site. Sean has never been away from this site for this long.

Often, we no longer see people on a site. Sometimes they have found another path, got bored or annoyed, and often we just let it go without recognition.

Sean was too much of a contributor to this site to let his absence go without comment. He and I didn't have a strong connection outside the public forum. We had some private exchanges, he phoned me at least twice, and they were rather long conversations. Looking back, I should have touched base with him more, although I'm not a phone person.

Rick contacted me with concerns, and I was aware of his absence too. I contacted Mark and Razzi. We all tried to contact him by phone, message, and email. During our searches, most of us came across the same scant data. We found a newspaper notice of someone with the same name in Spanaway of 61 years who passed on 4/13. I have looked almost every day and can't find anything posted by a funeral home or in the newspaper that's an official obituary, just the one notice.

Sean was a person who had an impact on many of the people here, past and present, and will in the future when people search for answers.

Sean offered his help generously as often as he could. He was the milestone for people looking for information from service manuals or wiring diagrams, someone you could always rely on. And if you had an electrical issue, the first thing you would see is a video of how to diagnose an electrical problem.

He had many of the same trials of the Superdutys that we all suffer; even more so, he was willing to repair his truck's frame after an accident. A street view of his house in Google shows the truck with the bed off although it may be an older image. He was very willing to take some images of the fuel system routing for me to make a video I've never completed, so he never saw his work culminate.

As many of us know, he bought the KDD "kit in a box" and all the tools needed, including the expensive two-post stand, to rebuild the 6.0L, but he never got the opportunity to assemble any of it, as far as I know. Sean was definitely a tool junkie.

So, he never had the satisfaction of assembling and hearing it run. Like many of us, a goal we never get to complete; another something not crossed off the do list. We all have too many of those, and it's too often we have the opportunity lost. Projects to finish, people to interact with.

Sean was eight years younger than I; he suffered the same issues of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, along with all the problems that go with that. I was not anticipating his passing, and I hope he did not suffer excessively. And indeed, I hope he is at peace.

Rick may take the opportunity when he gets back from being ½ way across the world to go to his house and talk to his neighbors to obtain any information that may answer some of the mystery.

Sean, thank you for all the help you provided to people you didn't personally know; for being a friend to all of us. This site was better because of you, and I hope you realized that.

May God bless you and comfort you.

I am so bummed to read this news - Sean was one of the great ones on this site and will be so very much missed. He and I had the cat connection as well - I do hope his fur babies find good homes. So saddened by this... Thank you Jack for letting us know and the very fine writing you did to honor our departed friend...

Thank you for posting that Jack. Very appropriate after all the attempts to make contact, and the time that has passed by without hearing from him.

As you stated, Sean has been an incredible resource here, and especially in the Washington Chapter sub-forum. More than that, he has shown himself to have been such a very fine person, time-and-time-again. Helping people for 11 years on FTE - he was certainly family. He will be missed.

Oh no. I owed him so much. So glad that I got to meet him last March when I was up in Seattle. What a nice guy, always willing to help. He actually had doctor's appointments when I was there which didn't allow him to meet me for dinner. And looking back, I remember thinking that he didn't look "athletic" enough to be doing all the work on those trucks. But, he was in a fine mood. Very lively and seeming happy. I hope he didn't lose that. I don't recall the bed being off that truck when I was there, and it was backed in.

Jack-Thank you letting us know about Sean's passing. I had wondered recently why there were no posting from Sean as he was always one to contribute/assist others right away with the known issues/solutions to all of us in the 6.0 world. A very kind tribute as well. He was family on this forum and will be greatly missed.

To Sean (the cool cat with the cool cats),

Thank you for all of your help over the years. You were often the first to reply when I had a question or request for information. You have been and are missed. Prayers for you and your family. Be at peace, brother.

Jack, thank you for sharing.

I got to talk to him a few times on the phone awhile back when i was working on my transmission. Had to pull the valve body because the temp sensor snapped when i was trying to replace it and later putting it back together i found a "mystery" piece laying in the bottom of my drain pan. (Which came out un-noticed when the valve body was removed.). He helped my figure out what it was and where it was supposed to go.

im definitely going to miss sean. He was always willing to help when you were in need.

I did not personally get to interact with Sean. I always liked how he would try to help with electrical troubleshooting. I think he knew how daunting finding an electrical gremlin is to many of us. Also, being a dog and cat person, I always looked forward to a pic or two of his giant cats and to hear some of their antics. He will surely be missed and I hope his family knows how he will be missed by so many. RIP.

Well, I searched a little for his relatives, and sent texts to the phone numbers I found, but no replies. They should know how many appreciated him. Especially since we're not finding other announcements. Like many of us, maybe he spent more time with our online friends that his offline family and friends, and they just don't know.

Well, Sean, I hope you know.

Dayum,

Jack, thank you for the update. It’s hard loosing forum friends, they are the same as flesh friends.

Sean had many good suggestions and a wealth of knowledge to share. As others have said, He will be missed.
