Sean - Yahiko
It appears that Sean, Yahiko, has passed away. His last posting on 4/6 was about a medical condition he could not go through at a Cath Lab because of the possibility of having pneumonia.
Searching for his last log-on shows 4/15, with no posting. A log-in two days later than the passed-away notice found could be a relative checking his computer activity, not realizing the impact he had on the members of this site. Sean has never been away from this site for this long.
Often, we no longer see people on a site. Sometimes they have found another path, got bored or annoyed, and often we just let it go without recognition.
Sean was too much of a contributor to this site to let his absence go without comment. He and I didn't have a strong connection outside the public forum. We had some private exchanges, he phoned me at least twice, and they were rather long conversations. Looking back, I should have touched base with him more, although I'm not a phone person.
Rick contacted me with concerns, and I was aware of his absence too. I contacted Mark and Razzi. We all tried to contact him by phone, message, and email. During our searches, most of us came across the same scant data. We found a newspaper notice of someone with the same name in Spanaway of 61 years who passed on 4/13. I have looked almost every day and can't find anything posted by a funeral home or in the newspaper that's an official obituary, just the one notice.
Sean was a person who had an impact on many of the people here, past and present, and will in the future when people search for answers.
Sean offered his help generously as often as he could. He was the milestone for people looking for information from service manuals or wiring diagrams, someone you could always rely on. And if you had an electrical issue, the first thing you would see is a video of how to diagnose an electrical problem.
He had many of the same trials of the Superdutys that we all suffer; even more so, he was willing to repair his truck's frame after an accident. A street view of his house in Google shows the truck with the bed off although it may be an older image. He was very willing to take some images of the fuel system routing for me to make a video I've never completed, so he never saw his work culminate.
As many of us know, he bought the KDD "kit in a box" and all the tools needed, including the expensive two-post stand, to rebuild the 6.0L, but he never got the opportunity to assemble any of it, as far as I know. Sean was definitely a tool junkie.
So, he never had the satisfaction of assembling and hearing it run. Like many of us, a goal we never get to complete; another something not crossed off the do list. We all have too many of those, and it's too often we have the opportunity lost. Projects to finish, people to interact with.
Sean was eight years younger than I; he suffered the same issues of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, along with all the problems that go with that. I was not anticipating his passing, and I hope he did not suffer excessively. And indeed, I hope he is at peace.
Rick may take the opportunity when he gets back from being ½ way across the world to go to his house and talk to his neighbors to obtain any information that may answer some of the mystery.
Sean, thank you for all the help you provided to people you didn't personally know; for being a friend to all of us. This site was better because of you, and I hope you realized that.
May God bless you and comfort you.
Scott
As you stated, Sean has been an incredible resource here, and especially in the Washington Chapter sub-forum. More than that, he has shown himself to have been such a very fine person, time-and-time-again. Helping people for 11 years on FTE - he was certainly family. He will be missed.
