i guess you take a bolt and weld it into the spider and side gears so they cant move. This is like having a spool though and it wont unlock going around turns.

not quite it is actually a very tedious task. You have to (well you don't have to but if you wanna do it right then it is best) pull the chunk out and clean it up with brake cleaner, after it dries then plan on where you wanna weld it...make sure you weld the spider gears to the case, before any welding though cover up the carrier splines with a rag or something, yes it will catch fire so don't do it around anything flammable (ie gas, brake cleaner, etc) this is to keep splatter from messing up the splines and keep your axleshafts from not fittin correctly....I do NOT recommend welding with the axleshafts in place! You can also buy from Home Depot or anywhere that sells welding supplies some stuff that you spray on to keep splatter from sticking...it just falls off. After you weld it let it cool off and then throw it back in and then go hit a mud hole

good luck man....let me know if you have any questions about it, I have done it a few times

it is also kindof risky to weld the thing together isnt it? if you make alittle weld mistake and it comes loose in the Diff, its going to tear it all apart.(differentail goes ka-boom!)

the only thing it could do would be to lock up your diff which is what you are doing anyways.....I highly recommend finding one as a replacement though, most of you guys won't like it.

Usually you weld the spiders in more than one spot. What I'd be worried about is the slag from welding getting in the diff and you not being able to get it out.......I guess a small magnet would take out most.

this is the biggest problem....I ran mine for a week (about 300 miles) and I changed the rear-end dope. Ran it for another week and I checked it and it was fine.

and yes you weld as far around the spider gears as possible
