Anyone out there know of an Ohio based 4X4 club? I've followed a couple links from FTE and the closest i've come is 2bigbroncos.com greatlakes chapter but did'nt see anything about trips, rides, trails they've taken in Ohio. Was hopeing to stay in Ohio, Michigan area's.
LAST EDITED ON 17-May-01 AT 05:27 AM (EST)[p]They do alot of club runs up in the Youngstown area. It's mostly a Ranger/BroncoII group, but I'm sure they would mind you tagging along in a big truck
If you're just looking for places to go wheel'n, I can hook you up with a few of those also. I'm in the Lima area (west-central) so maybe we can hook up sometime.
BTW, ya coming to the 4x4 Jamboree in Lima this weekend? LOL
BTW, I forgot to ask if you're coming to Lima this weekend for the 4x4 Jamboree. If so let me know and we can try to hook up at the event.

Thanks for the reply TrailDawg and the link, i was at the Jamboree on Saturday, sorry i hadn't checked the FTE board first. I'm in Mt.Cory (just north of Bluffton down Old 25 0r 313) and would be interested to hear of some trails in the area or your area, wherever, it sounds like were close no matter where. My truck right now is back at the dealer where i bought it, really getting irritating driving his Olds cutlass around, i'm ready to take it down some trails if he don't hurry up with my truck.
Anyhow, give me an e-mail, see if we can get together on some local trails.

Dang, you are close. Maumee has an off-road park for ATV's and dirtbikes, but I'm not sure if they allow 4x4's. We usually go to Haspin Acres down by Richmond, IN a few times every summer to play. It's a nice big area (750 acres) with plenty of trails, hills, mud, and rocks to play in.
As for around here, there's one me and my friends go to, but it's private property (one of my friends uncles land) and we usually go late Sunday evenings about dusk. Unfortunately, it's in a river bottom and has been under about 4 feet of water lately. LOL

i live in zanesville, an hour east of columbus on i-70. there's a few clubs south of hear that i've gone out with. the thing with the clubs are, they usually arn't happy when you bring a cooler full of cold beer, and to me that's the only way to mud.
there's a big wild-life area about 12 miles from my house that AEP owns. you can go out there all day and still not hit all the holes. and it's that thick slimy clay, you know, when you walk through it, you'll have 2 inches stuck to the bottom of your boot.
The kind of clay that sounds like bacon frying in a pan when you drive over it. Got a buddy that lives in Monroe county. I have never seen red mud that will stain your jeans for good until I started going down there. Damn fun driving in it though.
Haspen Acres soulds like a good time, you'll have to let me know about the next trip you plan. Should get my truck back from the dealer tommorrow (after two weeks) and if everything is in good running order (as it had BETTER be) i was thinking about going up to the Dunes in Silver Lake, MI. I have a brother and sister up in Whitehall so figure i'd go up and visit them then head out for the Sand and Water.
I've heard of the trails in Maumee but from a site i came across at http://www.alphaamericainc.com/oor/ohio_trails.htm i'm pretty sure it's not an ORV trail but just ATV. I've got a '66 Ford i'm trying to sell or trade for an ATV or dirtbike so if you know of anyone that might be interested, have em get in touch with me.

oh yea, i've seen trucks with all-terrain tires in less than 2"'s of this stuff and can't move!!!!
I tell you, just some of the serious back roads around Wayne National Forest in Monroe county are offroad enough. Swear if I am down there and we are "country crusin", we take a chainsaw, log chain, and a "come-a-long" (not to mention a cooler) everytime. More than once been cooking down a "washed out" twp. road only to find a tree across it. To the right is 50 foot drop and to the left is hillside. Thank god for goodyear maximum traction tires, husquevarna(sp?) chainsaws, and Budwiser. Boy it pretty country for sure....
man, country crusin in a country cadilac with a cooler of country soda's. it just don't get no better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only i usually carry a bow saw, chain saw is to loud, and attracts to much attention. but we do always have a ****** rope, a few chains and come a longs, couldn't imagine life without em. where is wayne national forest, isn't it down around athens way????
It is split up with a big chunk in Athens and a big chunk in Monroe. I tell you, everytime I go down there it's a good time. Seems like everytime we make it over to New Martinsville WV (for "supplies" of course) we have just come off of some mountian road with mud caked all over the truck and ourselves. Man some of them roads are hellaious. About a year ago we were going down this one lane that bordered a valley creek. It had been closed for about 5 years due to washout. We parked in the middle of this road for almost 2 hours and enjoyed a "cold beverage" watching the wildlife. I swear it looked like a 4 wheeler path and I kept asking my buddy, "are you sure this is a road." I mean it looked like they took a brushhog down it and made one pass, cutting the down trees out as they went. Talk about wilderness....
Has anyone been to Ludlow, Oh trails? Searching the net last night a came across a couple club sites that had a memorial 4X4 trip to Ludlow, OH. Looking on the map i'm wondering if this is Ludlow Falls, OH outside of Troy?
