Got a recall notice in mail for emissions. My 2022 has 81k on it, regens every 500 miles and is averaging 17.6 mpg. Not getting recall done. Probably want to tighten emission output, no cares. First 6.7 that only regen’ d on the 500 mile mark and love it. All others ranged from 150-350 miles between and it sucked the mpg’s down bad.
I just received the notification in the mail today, myself. Appears that the NOx sensor preheat is not being turned on, and needs to be. If it fails, then MIL will trip, and it'll have to be replaced, apparently.
They state in two places (if you do not have this reprogramming done): "Your emissions warranty may be reduced", and "Failure to do so could be determined as lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle" (an implied threat to possible further impact to warranty?).
Hmm, gonna have to check to see if I'm still under emissions warranty, with 41K on the clock. If not, then I'll have to weigh whether it's worth the hassle. And, if I do end up taking it in, I'll damn sure back up all my mods made with Forscan beforehand...
Update: Scheduled a mobile technician visit from the dealership, and the flash was done at home yesterday afternoon. He used FDRS to flash the PCM and TCM modules. Any Body-CM (or other non-PCM/TCM) settings that I previously modified using ForScan were not affected. Tire circumference didn't appear to be affected, based upon my GPS speed comparison this morning, but my ability to modulate DPF regens was. Since that feature required a change in the IPS module to enable the instrument panel option and the PCM (or was it in TCM?) option to choose the second option to allow it, that feature got overwritten with the flash. So, I'll have to go back into ForScan to reenable that feature. So, be warned if you've modified modules in either the PCM or TCM, as you'll need to review and reset those features in those modules, as the flash performed is not just one or two features but a sledgehammer replacement of what's present. Fortunately, I have backups from my last modifications, so it will be interesting to see what exactly changed when I compare the current PCM and TCM flash with my backups.
As a side note, the mobile tech was not informed regarding ForScan and its use. While he was flashing the modules we had a good conversation about my truck and its features (he was impressed with the SD's abilities, compared to an F-150 he was considering), and how ForScan is used (not just for trucks, but every Ford model with ODBII). I turned him on to the forum and also to ForScan. Perhaps he'll be better informed for his duties, who knows...

Sounds like Ford is doing a little CYA with that statement since disregarding the NOX sensor could lead to more expensive repairs that Ford doesn't wish to pay for, and can be avoided with this update.
