Hardware.... Take 2
l started the day today by looking for a water pump bolt set for my 85... nope, no such thing (available new) as far as l can tell. Hard to believe.
That got me to wondering about interchangeability and cross referencing. For example, which individual parts and pieces from various Ford V8s or even the ubiquitous SBC can be crossed-over into our world to make our lives a little easier (and probably cheaper). I'm thinking of fasteners like head bolts or internal parts like pistons, rockers, valves, etc... l have almost 0 experience with Chevy engines so l know nothing about how they're held together, but a quick look at any parts catalog will quickly show the price differences between Chevy and everyone else. A comprehensive list would make for a decent stickie.
I'm still looking for (4 ea) WP to block, WP to pulley, and fan to clutch bolts if anyone has them. I'd much rather have used OEM fasteners that hardware store stuff. Closest junkyard is 40 miles away.
