Help with vin decoding.
Vin is F60MYEJ2399. Seems none of these vin decoding guys truly have a fully functioning decoder. I need as much information about the specifications of this truck as possible. Rescued it from rotting away in a field where it has Sar for 20 years. Got very big and for it but need to get her operational first. Thanks in advance.
F60 = F600 4x2, gas
M = 370 4V gas V8
V = Kentucky Truck Plant (Only V in this year, Y is not a plant code)
EJ2399 = 1979 numerical series. I don't have month by month info.
154 = 154 inch wheelbase
M = White
F604 = F600 gas, 4x2, 16,000 lbs GVWR
AA8 = I don't have upholstery info, but it indicates standard cab
A = New Process model 435 four speed transmission
F3J
F3 = Eaton Model 15201 two speed rear axle, 15,000 lbs capacity, 6.33 / 8.81 ratios
J = Ford front axle, 4,700 lbs capacity. Notes say: "Tire carrier with manual steering".
16000 = 16,000 lbs GVWR
738077
73 = Salt Lake City District Sales Office
8077 = Special Order Number.
I hope you got a title.
The deal breaker for these is brakes, tires and sometimes wheels. I think by '79 the widowmakers were gone, but double check what you have.
There are no drums available, at least not without divine intervention.
Other brake parts can be had through NAPA and other sources. (change the vehicle type to "Medium/Heavy")
You should go through the brakes as the wheel cylinders are either leaking or going to leak as they will be rusted due to sitting. Brake lines should be checked as well.
It should have a hydrovac vacuum brake booster on the frame under the driver, or some of these had firewall mounted boosters.
Cab sheetmetal & parts are for the most part the same as pickups of similar style. Front fenders have larger openings, floors differ. Glass is the same.
