What is this sensor?

Hello,2001 f250 crew cab 8ft bed 4x4 automatic 7.3I just replaced my steering box. While
removing my airbox to get at the steering components i noticed this sensor mounted to the airbox. Someone had cut it off in the past. What is it? Should i reattach it?

Measures temperature of intake air. I would reattach it.
