76 f150 with all stock fe390. My project is on hold because nothing happens when it can't move. I have been hunting for an affordable c6 that can handle a little bit of a future power build up, nothing meant to rotate the earth but 5-750ish maybe. Currently it's a complete Ford factory replacement crate 2 barrel that replaced the original motor a very long time ago and received very little use due to a transmission seal leak and was eventually parked. I have made sure the motor stays free, but long story less long.....drive shaft and tail shaft seem to have decided that they are not interested in divorce....the current c6 is likely to never be functional again and if it is find affordable quality repair parts are non existent..... Anyway the question is what is the best options for a conversion with minimal impact on the truck. I wanna roll Ford parts but I keep being told to do a turbo 400 or 700r4. I want daily driveability and it's a truck so I intend to use it like one. PS it's not a race car nor do I want it to be
Any conversion is going to burn up time and money. Always, always run into unexpected issues when installing something where it was not intended. C6 should still be fairly common ? I would search for a top notch transmission shop and have them rebuild your present C6. (Heck, the driveshaft and tailshaft can stay married. Of course you would want to take a good look at all u-joints as part of your project.)
I have been unable to locate any around me that I have any faith in...I found one in a local shop that the guy claimed had been dropped off for rebuild and never paid for, but he couldn't tell me anything about the build not even ratio or valve body setup
