6.0 coolant filter question
I have a bpd remote cooler currently installed and I was wondering if I could just plumb in the ipr filter before the oil cooler for example motor-ipr filter- oil cooler-back to motor. Just want to ask before in case any issues might arise from this.
I've got the same setup with the BPD remote, 6.7, oil cooler. I had a Sinister bypass oil cooler installed. That didn't keep me from having to change my oil cooler 3 times. PO ruptured the EGR and Oil cooler on separate occasions. My coolant system was so clean I could drink out of it, but I never could get it clean enough not to clog the oil cooler with flakes of rust and gel looking goop. That's why I went with the relocated BPD oil cooler.
I just removed my bypass oil cooler. It'll be so easy to put a new oil cooler in, I'm really not concerned about it clogging.
So, to answer your question, yes you can plumb the IPR full flow coolant filter in before or after the oil cooler, but why? The oil cooler is so easy to change like it is. BUT, BUT, BUT, what happens if the coolant filter plugs with debris? There is no oil cooling and you could ruin the engine if you're not checking you oil temps every 10 miles. That's why I say its a bad idea.
