PATS issues

Hello all, I’m working on a 2008 f150 5.4 auto trans. 200k. I have a no crank no start. Security red light flashes slowly as normal. When key in inserted and turned on I get a fast blinking. I took it too local lock smith and they where unable to get it to work. They said it has 2 keys programmed and they made a new key still no start. They were unable to reset the immobilizer.
the 2 codes are B1342 and B1601. Any ideas what to do next? Possible bad pcm? If so does pcm need to be replaced along with transceiver and or cluster? Any help appreciated

Note that the DTC B1342 can be generated by multiple modules. You have to verify WHICH module is reporting it.

If the B1342 was pulled from the PCM, it indicates that the PCM has self-diagnosed itself as having a fatal internal fault. Try clearing codes and re-running the KOEO self-test and see if the fault clears or not. If not, you might want to contact forum sponsor Circuit Board Medics and see if they can repair a PCM with a B1342. Let us know how it turns out.

The B1601 *might* be due to experimenting or attempting to start with an unprogrammed key,

The cluster has no bearing on PATS functionality (except for the light) on an 08.

I would try to jump start it from the starter motor next.

That wouldn't matter. If PATS has not proved out successfully, all that jumping at the starter motor would do is make it crank (best case). It would never fire and run since PATS did not authorize operation.

Good point. Something else learned. Thanks.
