F150 2001 Theft Light blinking crank no start

Hi, my F150 2001 no wont start, constant Theft blinking on instrument panel, also shows service engine soon light. Error code after switching to run and waiting is error code 12 which I believe is a transceiver issue.? but on another website is saw that its not a PAT issue if the service engine soon light is on.
Engine cranks but wont start, I tried spare key, tried the unlock method, also tried leaving key in and in run position for 10 mins, swopped out the PCM relay but still no luck.
Any help appreciated. I live in the Philippines on a quite remote area with no Ford dealership so will have to order parts from eBay probably so wanted to make sure I order the right part.

Thanks

Verify the cluster properly powers up. If it doesn't, PATS automatically fails.

Use your scan tool and properly pull the PCM and cluster fault codes. Second best, put the cluster into the dealer test mode and pull the cluster DTCs related to PATS.

Post the fault codes

Otherwise, try a new transceiver. That's the antenna ring around the ignition cylinder. It's easy to replace and is the only thing in the PATS system that doesn't require reprogramming.

Thanks for the sound advice, I don't have a scan tool but have ordered from Amazon so may take a while to arrive and I shall follow your advice. In the meantime I shall check, clean and look for perhaps damage on wires. I do suspect the transceiver from all I have read but as it takes weeks to arrive here in the Philippines I wanted to be sure its the root cause, the scan tool will do this I am sure and will be useful in the future also.

I will come back with an update as anything changes and really appreciate you taking time to offer this support.

You can also try this if you don’t fix it. If you have a tilt steering column you can tilt the column up and down while trying to start it.

I do realize this may sound dumb but I had a 2003 that did a very similar thing and it was a broken wire for the anti theft in the steering column. Tilting the column up and down let it make enough contact to start.

Like I said… it may not fix it but it will cost nothing to try it.

Good luck. Hope you figure it out soon

Thanks for the suggestion, I did try but no luck, I am waiting now for the tester and as deliveries take time I ordered a replacement transceiver in parrallel, will be useful. I stripped the existing transceiver out to check the visual condition which seems ok but without a replacement I cant really tell. I will update going forward.

Ignition Switch Terminal Pictures

Hi here are some pictures of the switch, the terminal P/No XL3T 11A128 was hanging loose, i can push it in but just falls out again (2 pictures showing that). I tried tape around it but still had the theft warning problem. Can you tell me what its for and can it be the root cause. Should it have power going to it.? Can I check its ok.?
Thanks

No, it isn't. That's the key-in-ignition switch. It's what's supposed to sound the chime when the door is opened with the key still inserted. It's not part of the PATS system.

Go do what was recommended.

Hi, ok I did not realize you could do that test without any scan equipment. I just saw the procedure on the net and here are the results:

dtc A103
dtc 9600

From what I can see on the guideline sheet it says: 9600 PATS Ignition Key Transponder Signal is Not Received - Damaged Key or Non -PATS Key.

There is nothing for A103

Hope this helps, seems the transceiver could still be the problem, I tried the spare key already many times, cant believe both keys are damaged .?

A103 decodes to "Antenna Not Connected — Defective Transceiver" which indicates an electrical concern with the PATS transceiver's circuit.

Still waiting for the new Key Transponder but the diagnostic cable arrived and I ran FORscan on the truck, I think it already says what I already knew but the teams review of the result will be very useful:

again many thanks for the help to everyone who offered suggestions as I could not have solved this alone
