I’ve got a 79 F150, inline 6 that was running one day but wouldn’t start the next. The throttle was sticking open a bit and naturally the truck wouldn’t shut off and started running hot. I lubricated the linkage and springs and eventually got the truck to idle normally. I changed the battery and ground cable but no luck. The seat light and buzzer come on and the lights and wipers work.
What is this and could it cause a no start issue?
I'd go back and check the new battery and ground connections. Did you maybe nock loose a wire off the starter solenoid (mounted right next to the battery?
Both connections to the battery and block felt tight. I wiggled the connections to the starter solenoid to make sure they were tight (they were) before I bought one along with the battery and ground cable.
dl I'll kick my self in the *** if that's it . Just last week I thought I had that sloppy column shifter in park and she started to roll on me when I was head for the pump.
I am such an idiot, thank you both for the information and help. Along with inheriting the truck, came the Grant steering wheel which I'll be swapping back to an original.
