Steering Wheel Controls w/ Aftermarket Radio Questions
Steering Wheel Controls w/ Aftermarket Radio Questions
Questions for you A/V guys & gals.
2016 F250 XLT. Had the sync with the standard CD player and on the steering wheel I had Volume Up/Down, Seek Up/Down, Voice, Ok and the Telephone Button. I installed a Pioneer DMH-W2770NEX stereo with the PAC RP4-FD11 Wiring Interface. Install went smoothly, took about 3-4 hours for everything but I was taking my time. The PAC adapter actually looked up pretty easy and buttons programmed well. So Volume Up/Down, Seek Up/Down, and media all work well. The Voice button is working as the system mute which I am okay with. It says in the directions that some of the buttons would need to be hardwired. I was wondering if any of you have been successful at getting all the buttons to work for there intended purpose without hardwiring, because I am not messing with that, and it would be nice to have the OK and Phone buttons work if possible.
Also randomly and not every time the radio switches back to the main menu by its self. Radio says running and goes right back to normal function. I am wondering if it has to do something with the sync system and the 911 assist that would always pause the radio. Can I turn sync completely off through FORScan or will that kill my steering wheel buttons? Sorry for all the questions, thank you for the help. Loving the new stereo no matter what.

I would suspect Sync is causing your issues, I suggest using the forscan to shut it off and try again, if it doesn't make a difference you can always turn it back on with forscan. In my 2012 with a Pioneer system and using a iDatalink interface I had no issues, but I also deleted the Sync app from my phone.

If I recall correctly Sync is a separate module from the radio, because when I swapped out my radio, and didn't delete the Sync app, Sync was still connecting to my phone.
Well I went through FORScan, didn’t see anything to “turn off” sync. And didn’t want to just start experimenting. My phone was still connecting after the radio was out until I “forgot” the sync in my Bluetooth settings, so something is still getting power somewhere. I did get the radio to stop turning off briefly by turning off the “call 911” setting in FORScan.
Still will need to get the buttons figured out. Might try calling the company that sells the adapter and see if they have any pointers.

swc connection
Where did you connect the output of the rp4-fd11? I got the radio working but no steering wheel controls.
