The wastegate controls turbo boost pressure plain and simple.
I few years ago we towed our camper through the Ozarks and it was a uneventful tow (in a good way). Wouldn't mind going back there again.

Thank You. I have been reading all day and believe you are correct. I don't understand why I don't have a code. My tuner says there is nothing in the tune that would impact the waste gate. Anyway, I watched a fellow on video replace the waste gate controller and I think I'll just let a pro deal with it.

OK, here is the end of this story. I took the truck to the dealer and had a pro check it out. Nothing mechanical wrong. He thinks tuner is fouling up. No charge. Love it. Rebooted tuner. Returned to stock and reloaded tune. All well now.
