I have a 1964 F100 that we've put a 351w and M5OD transmission in. The transmission is from a 1995 F150 w/the 300 inline 6. I'm using a Wilwood clutch master cylinder with a 3/4" bore (pn 260-15098). I believe this bore is correct, but the hydraulic clutch line 'blew out' of the slave cylinder.
I've pulled the transmission and it looks like the metal band at the end of the slave cylinder that locks in the hydraulic line is missing, which would explain the failure.
Before I button it back up with the new slave cylinder I was wondering if I should be concerned about the stroke length of the clutch pedal and too much pressure damaging the slave cylinder? I am using the stock pedal from the '64 that originally had a 292 and three on the tree.
Well the best test is to press the pedal until the clutch is disengaged. Then make a stop at that point to prevent over travel. Because hydraulic pressure will always win. Whether the line pops out or tou obliterate the slave cylinder itself, you will need to make something to stop travel of the pedal.
