Broke the plastic end of the master cylinder push rod. Had to replace the master cylinder to get a new one. Went well but only get movement at slave cylinder on last 1/2 of pedal travel, not enough to disengage the clutch. Disconnected line at slave cylinder and good fluid flow. No better. Took off slave cylinder and stroked it--no better. Any ideas. Neither the master or slave has a bleeder screw that I can find
I took the slave cyl off of the tranny again. This time by holding the slave port upwards and stroking completely I got some more air out, but still not enough to get into or out of gear. The clutch finger moves 5/8" from rest to full stroke (what is the spec for this?)( it was only 1/2"), but the pedal still doesn't start feeling resistance until about 1/2 stroke. This truck has 150K on the orginal clutch. If the clutch is shot wouldn't it slip? rather than not engage?
Thanks for your suggestions
My 1987 F-350 4 speed has a set screw bleeder, right where the line goes into the slave cylinder, I don't know if yours is the same. It's a real pain in the posterior, and takes a lot more work than bleeding brakes.
