Canister filter box outlet

The filter box reads " to canister >" .and has a hose connected to the canister, but on the other side of the box has an outlet with nothing on it. So my question is..
what's the outlet go to?? Am I missing a hose and if so where does it connect to?

Should be a vent to atmosphere and goes to nothing
Post a pic to be sure

Correct. Just make sure it's up high and curved downward at the end to keep water out.
