I was shopping fuel filters on dieselfiltersonline.com and came across a new "kit" FD-4625AA which replaces the FD-4625 that I currently have sitting on the shelf.
My question revolves around the clamp shell that is included in the new kit. Where does it go and how is it used? I assume it goes on the upper filter, but I've got three lines on that filter and can't easily see how this clamp would replace any of them or how.
I believe earlier MY's required that clamp on the upper filter's return line fitting (which was notorious for breaking when servicing), whereas later models did not (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Looks like FoMoCo is just consolidating the filter kit from two part numbers to one, to simplify inventory and cover all MY's with one kit. For those that don't require the clamp, simply discard it.

Reason: corrected misspelling
FD-4625AA is not a new set, it has been out at least as long as I've owned my truck (4 years). The included clam shell clip (clamp shell) is for the 17-19MY only, to reinforce the return line. My January build '19 came with the clip already installed from the factory. There is no reason to remove it after its been installed, so the clamp shell becomes an unnecessary extra item in the set. There is a new fuel filter set and part # listed for 20-22 applications, only difference is that it does not include the clamp shell.
