Hello
I have a 2015 Superduty. I have had a turbo replacement with the SPE turbo upgrade to the 2017 pedestal with the 2017 turbo. Truck also has a brand new EGR cooler. DPF system has been baked within the last 5000 miles.
On my edge monitor my truck will normally regen when it says it’s at 145%. Intermittent issue is when I’m around 130% DPF load the truck will go into some sort of limo mode. It will loose power and not produce no more than about 5 psi in boost. I would say it’s about a 50% power reduction. I also noticed that my exhaust brake will not turn on it will flash 4 times and not come on. If I continue to drive it will eventually say something like exhaust system overloaded drive to clean. So if I keep driving like it says to do it will say service exhaust system. It will also throw the p0299.
If I pull over and shut off truck and restart the problem goes away. Everything is back to normal and it will start to regen. The P0299 code will go away to till this happens again. I have taken to 2 different mechanics who are puzzled with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Issue: Some 2011-2016 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a lack of power and/or illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299 in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the charge air cooler (CAC) outlet tube assembly becoming disconnected at the throttle body or a separation at the CAC tube crimp clamp. To resolve this concern, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the CAC outlet tube assembly. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2011-2016 F-Super Duty • 6.7L diesel engine • Lack of power and/or only DTC P0299 setting in the PCM
DPF at 145%? Did I misread that? Regen should happen at or under 100%.
My edge CTS tuner says DPF load 145% when it starts to regen correct. I was also told by a Ford mechanic that it really means 47% though. It’s like 100% off. 200% means it’s 100% full. I know why in the world would it be like that? I’m as confused as you are.
I am going over to a buddies who is a Ford mechanic and he is going to reset everything tonight and check the CAC tubing. Something is wonky and I will report as soon as I know. I have been dealing with this for a year with no solid answers. I do a lot of out of state hunting and there hasn’t been a time where I haven’t had issues.
I also have not been going through DEF fluid much at all. So I went under truck a disconnected the line going to the DEF injector and zero DEF fluid is coming out.
